LACONIA — The city recently recognized several groups, businesses and individuals for their efforts on behalf of the Laconia Adopt-A-Spot beautification program.

Best Presentation of Flowers, Commercial: Blythe Caruso of Enchanted Earth Designs for the flower garden in front of the new addition at the Laconia Library; and Warren Clement of the Sundial Shop, for the flowers and barrels on Pleasant and Main streets.

Best Presentation of Flowers, Non-Commercial: Tom Pucci, of the Weirs Action Committee, for planters on the boardwalk and Weirs Beach sign; and the Laconia Congregational Church for the landscaped area in front of the church.

Flower Barrels: Todd Santi, Christine Gelinas and Penny Jordan of Granite State Independent Living, for flower barrels in the downtown area; Linda Bitzer and Gretchen Shortway, of Beacon St. West Condominiums, for flower barrels on New Salem St.; SunDay's Salon & Spa, planter in front of store on Main St.; Kevin Sullivan of Downtown Place/Laconia Parking Garage and Colleen Moon of Video Choice for flower barrels on Pleasant Street.

Landscape Recognition Award - Civic: Wanda Tibbetts and the Lakeport Community Association for Torrey Park; and Garden Artisans and Laconia Rotary for their work at Rotary Park.

Landscape Recognition Award - Residential: Linda Vollmerding for her home on Windmill Lane.

Special Recognition Awards: Christopher Haddock of CBH Landscape for the care and maintenance of Laconia Library grounds during the spring and summer of 2008; and the Laconia Parks and Recreation for numerous adopted areas throughout the city.
