The Laconia Rotary Club has donated $1,000 to the City of Laconia to help finance a study of preserving the railroad station at Veterans Square. The amount will be matched with a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The donation was presented by Rotary President Frank DeNormandie, George Bingham, 75th Anniversary Chairman for Laconia Rotary to Mayor Roger McGrath.
The King's Kids, a Christian children's choir and puppet ministry group will do their first full concert with a puppet presentation this Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at the South Baptist Church, located at 85 Court St. The King's Kids presently consist of 18 children from around the Lakes Region who are between the ages of 7 and 12. They are under the direction of Peter Weemen, director of youth ministries of South Baptist, and accompanied by Mrs. Kay Vercoe at the piano.
The Lakes Region Twin Cinemas, in the Lakes Region Plaza in Gilford, is showing "Rough Cut" starring Burt Reynolds, Leslie Anne Warren and David Niven as well as "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" starring Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.
