What are your moon landing memories?
Sunday, July 19, 2009

'I was sitting in my living room, and I had a cheap camera and by a fluke I decided to take a picture of it (the moon landing) and it came out. I think I was probably by myself ... it was really a thrill for me. When I saw them actually walk on the moon ... it was a statement that things were changing and things you never imagine happening were happening.'

'It was hot I remember, but seeing the landing was amazing. I don't think I will ever see something like that again unless we land someone on Mars.'

'It had been going on for 10 years of talking about getting this accomplished. We thought it was wonderful. The United Stated was leading the world again. It was a big deal. ... It made you proud. To me, the big deal at the time was not getting them there but how are you going to get them back?'

'I was dating a gentleman at the time who owned a sloop and we were sailing in Boston Harbor. We were sitting on a log, and we were looking up at the moon and he was saying 'imagine, there are people walking up there right now,' it was very romantic.'
