Social and educational events are planned throughout the year.

@Brief head:Wine tasting event to benefit breast cancer center

CONCORD — The Annual Wine Tasting to benefit the Genetic Counseling Program at Concord Hospital Breast Care Center is on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Courtyard by Marriott Grappone Conference Center in Concord.

This year's benefit, hosted by The Courtyard by Marriott, Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire, Inc., North Branch Construction, and Rymes Propane & Oils, Inc. offers guests the opportunity to learn and experience some of the most prestigious and respected wines from prominent wineries throughout the world. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience fine spirits as well. This year's "Sparkling Raffle," generously provided by Capitol Craftsman & Romance Jewelers in Concord, features a 14k white gold diamond ring containing 1 carat total weight of round brilliant cut diamonds valued at $1,995.

"The Genetic Counseling Program at the Breast Care Center, available through a collaboration with New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, PA and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, is an amazing resource for our region," said Pamela Puleo, vice president of philanthropy and public affairs of Concord Hospital. "Programs like genetic counseling, previously only available in Boston, Massachusetts, are available close to home. Since the program started three years ago, 236 women have come for counseling and 105 have been tested. Philanthropic support from events like the annual wine tasting is vital to make the center and the Genetic Counseling Program possible."

Tickets are available for $30 per person or $25 per person for groups of 10 or more. A limited number of tickets are available and advanced reservations are required. For more information, call Concord Hospital Trust-Office of Philanthropy at 225-2711, ext. 3076.
