Who's ready for some baseball?

Saturday's dramatic finishes in Plymouth and Manchester marked the end of the winter season here in the Lakes Region. Basketball players will now put the sneakers away and dig out their dusty cleats from the back of the closet.

But before we dig deep into what spring will bring, we'll have to wrap up the winter season. We'll announce our Boys Basketball Player of the Year and our Girls Basketball Player of the Year in the coming weeks. We started announcing "players of the year" in the fall and plan to keep that new tradition going.

We might do an All-Area team to accompany the player of the year, but that's still to be decided within the sports department. If you have a thought on that, shoot us an email at sports[@]citizen.com.

Over the next couple of weeks you'll see us put a nice little bow on the winter season. Then, it's spring. So break out the sunflower seeds and the sunscreen -- we're almost there.
