Greer ALTON — Judith M. (Matthews) Greer, 72, of Alton Bay passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on March 23, 2012.

She was born in Huntington Station, Long Island, N.Y., on March 28, 1939, the daughter of J. Allen and Muriel (Croes) Matthews. She attended Potsdam (N.Y.) College where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education and was a member of Alpha Delta sorority.

She married James Greer in 1963 and raised her family in Cicero, N.Y., before retiring to Alton Bay. She loved Lake Winnipesaukee, riding her Seadoo, bird watching, antiquing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Family members include two sons, Scott M. Greer and his wife, Linda, of Bedford, and Steven P. Greer and his wife, Joy, of Lansdowne, Pa.; one daughter, Kelly (Greer) Froio and her husband, Vic, of Bridgewater, Mass.; and six grandchildren, Kyle, Brian, Derek, Tori, Rhys and Teagan.

Judy was predeceased by her husband of more than 37 years, Jim, in 2001.

A graveside burial service will take place at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m.. Additionally, there will be a celebration of her life for family and friends at her house on Lake Winnipesaukee on June 23.
