Stephen E. McMahon

ALTON — Stephen Edward McMahon, 55, died April 6, 2012, in his residence after a period of declining health.

Born in Lawrence, Mass., on Aug. 31, 1956, he was the son of John M. and Diana M. (Keach) McMahon of South Lawrence, Mass.

Raised and educated in that city, he was a graduate of Greater Lawrence High School in the culinary arts and hospitality program.

Mr. McMahon was a chef and baker. Early in his career, he worked in various restaurants and bakeries in the Metro Boston area. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own business in a great area to raise a family and to enjoy a slower pace of life. Together with his family, they operated the Busy Corner Store in Alton Bay for several years.

Among his varied interests was his genuine concern for his community and its residents. He proudly served the Town of Alton on the Board of Selectmen for 12 years, rendering service for four consecutive terms.

Those who knew him well will remember him as a generous and sincere friend whose family was at the center of his life. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his beloved parents, family members include son David E. McMahon and his mother, Judith E. Adair of Alton; sister Diana M. O’Donohue, of Derry; brothers John J. McMahon of Lawrence, Mass., and Christopher P. McMahon of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at St. Katherine Drexel in Alton on Friday, April 20, at 10 a.m.

Condolences may be registered at www.diazhealy.com or sent to his son, David, at 482 Rand Hill Road, Alton Bay NH 03810.
