Donald F. Barton
BARTON EAST ORLAND, Maine — Donald F. Barton, 78, died June 14, 2012, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital after a short illness of lung cancer.
He was born March 22, 1934, the son of Francis Cecil and Dorothy B. (Robinson) Barton.
Donald enlisted in the
U.S. Air Force and served during the
Korean
Conflict.
He worked for the State of
Connecticut Highway Department for 32 years. Don also worked in real estate in New Hampshire until retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and being outdoors. He worked with the Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls when his children were young.
Don was a member of the Episcopal Church of Danbury, Conn., where he contributed his wonderful bass singing voice to the choir, singing solos as needed.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Susan Ayres Barton of East Orland; son Steven J. Barton and wife Susan of Franklin, N.H.; daughters Debra L. Barton of Northfield, N.H., Heather Barton Lindloff and husband Richard of Stonington, Eileen B. Marcoux and husband Michael of Franklin, N.H., and Rachele Barton of East Orland; grandchildren Shayla DePolo of Dover, N.H., and Amanda Barton, Kaylah Barton, Jamie Marcoux, and Gerald Marcoux of Franklin, N.H.; and brother Roger E. Barton and wife Annette of Oakville, Conn.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia Rathbone Barton; daughter Rebecca; and sister Iona Ingersoll.
There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the All Saints Episcopal Church, Oakville, Conn. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Winsted, Conn. Officiating will be the Rev. Virginia Peacock of Stonington, Maine. Soloist will be Linda Parker from New Milford, Conn.
